Actress Choi Ji-woo will star in a Japanese television soap opera set to broadcast in January 2006.

Choi, who became popular throughout Asia after starring in the local drama ¡°Winter Sonata¡± with actor Bae Yong-joon, has agreed to act in a drama for the Japanese network TBS tentatively titled ¡°Yunmugok,¡± according to reports.

Choi will act alongside Yutaka Takenouchi, who starred in the Japanese hit film, ¡°Between Calmness and Passion.¡±

While the script has yet to be completed, the soap opera is said to be a love story set in Seoul and Tokyo.

Choi will leave for Japan in November to shoot the soap opera.
