SEOUL (Yonhap) - South Korea¡¯s Asia-wide hit drama ¡°Winter Sonata (Kyoul Yonga)¡± will be shown for the first time in the Arab world, a state information agency said on Tuesday. Egypt¡¯s state-run broadcaster Egypt Radio Television Union (ERTU) is to broadcast one episode of the drama daily except Fridays on its satellite channel starting on Wednesday, the Korean Overseas Information Service under the Government Information Agency said.

The broadcast is part of the government¡¯s efforts to improve the image of South Korea in Middle Eastern countries, where there is little exposure to Korean culture, through popular local television dramas, it said.

The satellite broadcast will bring the drama to cable viewers in other Middle Eastern countries with access to the Egyptian channel.
